Christine Gibson

ABOUT

Christine commenced work at Staircase Constructions in January 2011 to assist with financial reporting and administration. Christine attended High School in Hobart, being a beneficiary of a ‘Bursary,’ which provided some funding, after achieving Dux in Year 6 and receiving a Citizenship Award. Christine continuously maintains her professional development. Having worked in private, commercial and government businesses, she claims that practical application is most beneficial alongside study and has incorporated both these aspects to expand on her professional knowledge and career. She acknowledges that people skills are very important and she enjoys working in a team environment.

In the past, she has been involved in establishing systems and financial control, whilst mentoring and training others. Christine is a Registered BAS Agent, Member in Practice of Institute of Certified Bookkeepers and an MYOB Certified Consultant. She has attained both a Certificate IV in Training & Assessment placement and Booking/Accounting Certificate IV. Christine has worked at RAAF as an auditor and assisted in adhoc financial jobs in both London and South Africa. She has also been a Partner/Director of numerous family owned building businesses, alongside her husband Brian. Christine has worked as a Financial/Systems Assessor for not-for-profit organisations such as an Independent Consultant for DFAT. Christine has travelled the world working with AusAID and United Nations Projects, as Project Manager/Project Director encompassing a portfolio of $38 million overseas aid projects. Her involvement in aid projects has included involvement in tendering, negotiations and implementation.

Christine spends her time assisting in the financial aspects of Staircase Constructions, while nurturing fellow employees. She is primarily involved in financial statistics, analysis, monitoring cash flow and assisting administration. Christine ensures that the accounting system provides the necessary guidelines for statutory reporting. Christine follows the statistics of financial trends at Staircase Constructions and enjoys seeing a clear positive picture of activity versus production and the overall result.

Her future goals are to ensure systems are in place, so that in the event of transition others may come in and provide what is required in a financial role. Her future aspirations are to enjoy whatever she sets her mind to and will continually accept challenges in her work.

Christine takes pleasure in spending time with family as priority number one, as well as gardening and photography. In her free time she enjoys a cuppa and watching an old movie such as Gone With the Wind or Out of Africa. If able to attain a superpower she would hope to free up the world of stress and ensure everyone around her is happy and enjoying life. Her favourite food is Atlantic salmon and she enjoys a good coffee before beginning any working day.
