Merbau

The Merbau heartwood is a yellowish to orange-brown when first cut but with age turns darker to brown or reddish-brown. The grain is variable but usually interlocked or wavy with distinct yellow gold flicks. Texture is coarse but even. Merbau is a durability class 1 hardwood and is fire rated. Origin: South-east Asia, the Philippines, Solomon Islands, Fiji and Papua New Guinea.
